What is the new Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program?

In October, the Government of Canada announced that it would be releasing new recovery benefit programs for businesses that have been hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. One of these programs was the Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program (THRP).

While the name specifies tourism and hospitality, the list of qualifying industries and businesses is actually much broader.

Earlier this year we shared that the Employment Standards Act (ESA) was providing eligible employees with up to three days paid leave for infectious disease emergency leave (IDEL) related to COVID.

On April 19, the federal government released the 2021 budget. In the budget, the government proposed additional support for businesses

This includes extending the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) and the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS) beyond the June 2021 end date, as well as introducing a new hiring program.

Canada United Provides Grants of up to $5,000 to Small Business Impacted by Covid-19

Canada United, created by RMC is a movement to support local businesses across Canada. The Canada United Small Business Relief Fund (CUSBRF) was created to help small businesses with the cost of expenses to reopen safely, or adopt e-commerce technologies to conduct more of their business online.

Over $14 Million has been contributed by the Federal Government, RBC, and Canada United partners to support economic recovery due to COVID-19.

Financial Relief for Businesses During COVID
